💡 What Changed in February 2026?
eBay increased the per-order fee from 30p to 40p for orders above £10. Several categories also saw fee adjustments, including Vehicle Parts & Accessories moving to a tiered rate of 9.5% up to £750, then 3% above. Business, Office & Industrial went up to 12.5%.
⭐ Top Rated Seller Discount
Top-rated sellers get 10% off the variable portion of their final value fee on Premium Service listings. This discount is calculated on the fee itself, not on the sale price. For example, a 10.9% fee becomes roughly 9.81% after the discount.
🏠 Private Seller Fees
Since September 2024, UK-based private sellers pay zero final value fees on most categories. You still pay a 0.42% regulatory operating fee and the per-order fee. Fees apply for international sales and if you exceed 300 free listings per month.
📦 Fees Include Postage
eBay calculates all fees on the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price plus any postage charged to the buyer. If you offer free postage, only the item price is used. This is why your actual shipping cost matters for profit calculation.
How eBay UK Fees Work — A Complete Guide
Final Value Fee
The final value fee is the main fee eBay charges when your item sells. It is calculated as a percentage of the total sale amount (item price plus postage plus any applicable taxes). The percentage varies by category, ranging from 6.9% for high-value electronics to 14.9% for jewellery. Some categories use tiered rates where a lower percentage applies above a certain threshold — for example, Vehicle Parts & Accessories charges 9.5% on the first £750 and 3% on anything above.
Per-Order Fee
In addition to the percentage-based final value fee, eBay charges a fixed per-order fee. As of February 2026, this is 30p for orders totalling £10 or less, and 40p for orders above £10. An order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same shipment method. Some collectables and Home categories have a reduced 10p per-order fee for sales under £10.
Regulatory Operating Fee
Introduced in April 2024, this fee covers eBay's costs of complying with UK digital regulations. For business sellers, it is 0.35% of the total sale amount, plus 20% VAT (making it effectively 0.42%). For private sellers, the rate shown is 0.42% inclusive. This fee applies to all sales on eBay.co.uk.
VAT on Seller Fees
All business seller fees shown on eBay's fee pages are exclusive of VAT. eBay adds 20% VAT on top of your final value fee, per-order fee, and regulatory operating fee. If you are VAT registered, you can reclaim this VAT on your VAT return, which effectively reduces your fee burden. This calculator shows VAT on fees separately so you can see the true cost.
International Fee
If your buyer's delivery address is outside the UK, eBay charges an additional international fee calculated on the total sale amount. The rate depends on the buyer's region: 1.05% for Eurozone and Northern Europe, 1.8% for US and Canada, and 2.0% for all other countries. This fee is also subject to VAT for business sellers.
